The Department of Labor and Human Resources (DTRH) made history at the Reset HR Puerto Rico Summit by unveiling Puerto Rico’s first Pay Equity Report under the Ley de Igualdad Salarial de Puerto Rico (Law No. 16-2017), a landmark legislation aimed at reducing gender pay disparities.

The findings?

Despite an increase in women’s workforce participation from 33% to 38% (2017-2023), the gender pay gap widened—women now earn just 83 cents per dollar compared to men, down from 92 cents in 2019.
